How to Get Bookmarks From a Mac Laptop to an iPhone

Both Mac and Windows PCs can automatically initiate video transfer from your iPhone.

The iPhone may be compatible with Windows, but it is inherently designed to sync seamlessly with a Mac. When you sync your iPhone to your Mac, you have the option to import music, videos, iCal calendars, Address Book contacts, Mail accounts, Notes, photos, Safari bookmarks and even a MobileMe account, if you have one. The easiest way to get your bookmarks from your Mac to your iPhone is to sync through iTunes.

Step 1

Turn on your iPhone and connect it to your Mac laptop. Disable your passcode if you use one. Open iTunes if it does not open automatically.

Step 2

Click the device icon for your iPhone in the left column of the iTunes application window. Click the "Info" tab.

Step 3

Scroll down to the "Other" heading and check the box labeled "Sync Safari bookmarks." If you want the bookmarks on your computer to overwrite the bookmarks already on your iPhone, scroll down to the "Advanced" heading to where it says "Replace information on this iPhone." Check the "Bookmarks" box. If you check this box, you will replace bookmarks in Safari on your iPhone with the bookmarks from Safari on your Mac.

Step 4

Press the "Apply" button to sync your iPhone and save your changes. Do not disconnect your iPhone during the sync process. Bookmarks from your Mac will now appear in Safari on your iPhone.

Tip

To sync bookmarks from another web browser on your Mac, export your bookmarks as an HTML file, then import them into Safari on your Mac. The export function has a different location on different web browsers, but will usually be in the "Bookmarks" or "Favorites" menu. Look for an "Export bookmarks" or "Export HTML" option. To import bookmarks in Safari, select "File" from the top menu bar, then select "Import bookmarks." Select your bookmark HTML file and click the "Import" button. Resync your iPhone to transfer your new bookmarks.
