Instructions for a SanDisk Cruzer Mini

                        Store or transfer files with the SanDisk Cruzer Mini USB flash drive.
                                    The SanDisk Cruzer Mini USB flash drive provides a convenient way to store and backup data from your laptop or desktop computer, or quickly transfer large files to another PC without having to email them or burn them to a data CD or DVD disk. SanDisk manufactures a range of USB flash drives offering different memory capacities, including 128MB, 256MB, 512MB, 1GB, 2GB and 4GB flash drives in the Cruzer Mini series. Drives at the lower end of the memory scale are suitable for transferring documents while larger-capacity flash drives will comfortably handle high-resolution images, audio tracks and video clips. Using a SanDisk Cruzer Mini USB flash drive is straightforward, because you don't need to install drivers; the device works as soon as you plug it into any USB 1.1 or USB 2.0 port on your computer.

Step 1

Remove the protective plastic cover from the metal connector at the top of the drive.

Step 2

Insert the drive into any USB port on the side or back of the computer. Use a USB 2.0 port, if possible, to benefit from faster data-transfer speeds.

Step 3

Wait a moment for Windows to detect the device. The LED indicator on the end of the SanDisk Cruzer Mini drive will light up when the device is ready.

Step 4

Click to select "Open folder to view files" in the AutoPlay dialog window that may display on the screen. If this window doesn't appear, click the Start button on the desktop taskbar and then select "Computer" on the right of the Start menu. Double-click the "Removable Disk" icon in the list of drives to open the flash drive's folder.

Step 5

Open the folder or folders that contain the files you want to store or transfer with the flash drive.

Step 6

Drag the files from the source folder and drop them onto the flash drive's folder.

Step 7

Wait a few minutes for Windows to copy the files to the drive. The LED indicator on the drive will flash as the computer transfers data to the drive. The amount of time this takes depends on the size of the files, but Windows displays a progress bar in a separate dialog window during the transfer. The window disappears when the transfer has finished.

Step 8

Right-click the "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" icon in the notification area on the right of the desktop taskbar. If you can't see this icon, click the "Show hidden icons" up-arrow button in the same area, and then right-click the "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" icon in the popup pane.

Step 9

Click "Eject removable disk" in the jump menu. Unplug the drive from the computer when you see the "Safe to Remove Hardware" balloon message above the desktop taskbar.

Step 10

Replace the plastic cover to protect the USB drive during storage or transit.

Tip

  • If the drive has been used on another computer, Windows may prompt you to format the drive when you first insert the flash drive into your computer. Click the "Format" button in the popup window and then select your preferred file system from the available options. Most computers will offer "NTFS," "exFAT" or "FAT32" as options. Select a FAT option for maximum compatibility with other devices. Formatting erases all data from the drive.

Army deployed in rain-affected areas of Hyderabad

Nod likely for Bhagirathi hydel projects

Among runs these days and hungry for more, Abhinav Mukund appears to have been around for long but is still only 26. He has been the Tamil Nadu Ranji captain for the last two seasons.
