The Army has stepped up vigil due to increased Pakistan-abetted incursion attempts along the Line of Control at night.
One militant was killed in an encounter and two infiltration bids were foiled on the Line of Control (LoC) in the Kashmir Valley on Thursday.
An Army spokesman said two bids were foiled in as many places in Naugam sector of Kupwara district. Two counter-infiltration operations continue in Uri in Baramulla and Naugam in Kupwara.
“The Army has enhanced its vigil in view of the increased Pakistan-abetted infiltration attempts along the LoC on the intervening night of September 21 and 22. Two separate groups were trying to sneak in when they were intercepted and forced to flee back,” the Army spokesman said.

A group of militants holed up in Aragam village of Bandipora were encircled in the morning. Four militants are believed to have escaped the encounter site.
One AK-47 rifle was recovered from the encounter site, said the Army spokesman. Reports suggest that a group of gunmen fired on a patrolling party on Wednesday night. Later, a house was blasted to flush out the militants.
Local residents held a demonstration in the area and demanded the body of the militant.
As many as 12 civilians were injured in the clashes. Sources said the body was shifted to Uri where his last rites would be performed.
For the 76th day on Thursday, the Kashmir Valley remained shut and several areas under curfew.
A police spokesman said there was curfew in Anantnag and parts of Srinagar city.
He said 57 people, “involved in creating disruption in traffic movement”, were arrested in the Valley.
