Militant killed in north Kashmir's Bandipora district.
The Army on Thursday foiled two infiltrations in north Kashmir's Nowgam Sector in Kupwara district, more than 90 km away from Srinagar.
“Even as counter-infiltration operations continue in Uri and Nowgam sectors, two more infiltrations were successfully foiled by the Army at two different places in Nowgam sector,” an Army spokesman said.
"The Army has enhanced its vigil in view of the increased Pakistan-abetted infiltration attempts along the LoC on the intervening night of September 21-22 September. Two separate groups were trying to sneak in when they were intercepted and forced to flee back," he said.
Militant killed in Bandipora
The Army said it killed a militant in an operation in north Kashmir's Bandipora district on Thursday. A group of militants were believed to be holed up in Aragam village of Bandipora and the area was encircled by troops of the CRPF, the police and the Army based on a tip-off. The militants opened fire when the security forces zeroed in on them.
Thursday's encounter is the fourth such encounter between hiding militants and security the forces in the past three days.
Militant shot dead at village in Bandipora district
The Army on Thursday said it has killed a militant in an operation in north Kashmir's Bandipora district, around 40 km from Srinagar.
A group of militants are believed to be holed up in Aragam village of Bandipora. The area was encircled by troops of the CRPF, the police and the Army. The operation was based on a tip-off. The militants opened fire when the security forces zeroed in on the village.
Thursday's encounter is the fourth such encounter between hiding militants and security the forces in the past three days.
Two operations were on in Kupwara's Nowgam Sector and Baramulla's Lachipora area, where two infiltrationswere foiled by the Army.
