Plug the removable media into a free USB port on your old computer. If it's the first time you've used the drive, wait a few minutes for Windows to locate, download and install the drivers necessary to run the device. If prompted, click the "Format" button to format the drive. If the external hard drive prompts you to run specific installation software, click the "Yes" or "Install" button in the pop-up window.
Step 2
Double-click the "Computer" or "My Computer" icon on the Windows desktop screen, and then double-click the external drive's icon to open the device in a new window.
Step 3
Open the computer folder that contains the RealPlayer videos that you want to transfer. Highlight and select all of the video files that you want to include. RealPlayer video files use the following file extensions: RM, RMX, RMVB, RMD, RMJ and RMS. You can also include any MP4, MPEG or MPG video files that you want to play with RealPlayer.
Step 4
Drag and drop the selected files onto the open external drive window and wait for Windows to transfer them to the drive. Windows displays a progress bar in a new window during the transfer. When the transfer has finished, right-click "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" button in the taskbar on the Desktop screen and select the "Eject" option.
Step 5
Unplug the external drive from your old computer and then connect it to a free USB port on your new computer. Open the external hard drive in the "Computer" or "My Computer" window. Go to the computer folder in which you want to store the transferred video files, such as the "Videos" library folder. Drag the files from the external hard drive window to the open computer folder and wait for them to transfer.
Step 6
Go to the Real website, and then download and install the desktop version of RealPlayer onto your computer. You can choose the free version or a premium version. If you select the premium version, you'll need to enter your credit card or debit card details before downloading. Follow the next steps, if you would prefer to install the RealPlayer Express app for Windows 8.
Step 7
Press the "Windows" key on your computer keyboard to launch the Start screen, and then select the "Store" app tile. Move your mouse to the top right corner of the screen, click the Search charm and then enter "RealPlayer Express" in the search field.
Step 8
